The male-only club, which opened in 2002, features 27 holes - the ranking is based on holes 1-18. There is a small clubhouse, a driving range, short-game practice area, a two-acre putting green, a locker room, a bar and a large veranda with barbecue grill. There is no property development around the golf club. The surrounding property is zoned for agricultural use so no real estate developments will be showing up anytime soon. There is no kitchen or dining room. Members don't have to make tee times or pay for the use of a golf cart. They don't pay to use the driving range. "We are honored and proud that Black Sheep Golf Club has been recognized by Golfweek as one of America's Best 100 courses," Solano said. "David Esler brought tremendous thought and creativity to this project and he has provided our members a pure golf experience reminiscent of a bygone era."
Most of the holes have wide fairways for players of all skill levels. However, hitting a drive more toward a number of different types of hazards - the risk - gives the player an easier shot to the green - the reward. With little tree protection out on the course, the wind that sweeps through the area also play into the course's favor.
