Course Description: This course has small, demanding landing areas that require accuracy with every shot you make. Water hazards come into play on thirteen holes. The greens are small. Holes #4, a 183-yard, par 3, which requires a tee shot over water, and #18, a 582-yard, par 5, with a tree-lined fairway and well-protected green, were voted the two toughest holes in the State of Texas. The course was rated the 2nd best course in the State of Texas by the "Dallas Morning News."

All of the holes at Crown Colony require excellent course management. The narrow driving areas on many holes suggest a fairway wood or long iron instead of driver. Several others require threading the needle with the tee ball between out of bounds and water that runs the length of the hole. The third hole is just such a set up. Most pros would call it a three-shot hole and be happy to card a par-5. The angle of the tee shot means driving over water to a fairway pinched-in by trees and white stakes. The second shot on this dogleg left has an even narrower landing area with the water still in play to the left. Your approach is into an undulating green that breaks hard toward the water. No wonder the third is ranked among the top 500 holes in the world. The course at Crown Colony will leave you knowing that you've been through a test, not of traversing raw distance, but a test of course management and quite a bit of golfing self-discipline. It's a challenge that you should not have only once. Recognizing that fact, Crown Colony routinely hosts parties of all sizes who want to stay overnight and have more than just one shot at this prize of a golf course.
